Who Needs This
Every superyacht of 500 GT and above that calls at EU ports or trades internationally. The EU Ship Recycling Regulation (EU 1257/2013) has required IHM compliance since December 2020. The Hong Kong Convention entered into force on 26 June 2025, extending the requirement globally. Port state control inspections now routinely verify that IHM documentation is actively maintained — not just present on board.
This system is designed for vessels that already hold a certified IHM Part I and need a structured, professional way to maintain it throughout the vessel’s operational life.
How It Works
The Implementation and Operations Guide is your starting point — a step-by-step manual that walks you through configuring the entire system for your vessel. From there, the system handles the ongoing obligation:
- Material change occurs — refit, equipment replacement, paint system change
- Document it — obtain MD/SDoC from supplier, update Part I working file, record in change log
- File it — supporting documentation goes into the organised filing system
- Review it — quarterly checks, annual reviews, pre-survey preparation
- Present it — complete documentation set ready for your recognised organisation at survey
Every document, every folder, and every guide sheet references the specific regulatory requirement it satisfies.
Why This System
Most IHM products are simple template packs — a handful of files with no structure and no system for keeping them current. This is a complete operational system covering the entire vessel lifecycle: setup, maintenance, review, and survey preparation. The guide sheets in every folder mean new crew members can understand it immediately. As regulations evolve, existing customers receive updates at no additional cost.
Important Notice
This system provides templates and guidance requiring vessel-specific customisation. It is not certified, approved, or endorsed by any maritime authority, classification society, or recognised organisation. The buyer bears sole responsibility for ensuring regulatory compliance and is advised to have all completed documentation reviewed by a qualified marine surveyor or recognised organisation. Content reflects regulations current as of the purchase date.
